Cin7 vs Start Canyon for Singapore Manufacturers
Cin7 is a strong inventory and order management platform with light manufacturing capability. For Singapore manufacturers with job shop complexity, subcon workflows, or deep compliance requirements, a custom build is usually the more cost-effective long-term choice.

The right choice depends on the operating bottleneck
A system only wins if it handles the daily exceptions your team actually faces.

Stay where you are if…
- You are primarily an importer, distributor, or light assembler with stable products.
- You sell across multiple channels (retail, B2B, ecommerce) and need centralised order and inventory management.
- Your manufacturing is simple assembly or kitting, not job shop or contract manufacturing.
- You need a system running within 8 weeks and can work within its constraints.
Talk to us if…
- Your production involves job-specific routing, custom work orders, or subcon operations.
- You need job costing that closes the loop from quote to invoice.
- You need Singapore InvoiceNow (PEPPOL) e-invoicing built in.
- You are paying for Cin7 but still running Excel for the complex parts of your operation.
What it actually takes to move.
Migrating from Cin7 to a custom system requires exporting open orders, product catalogue, inventory counts, and supplier records. Cin7 exports are reasonably clean. The main risk is that Cin7 customers often have their most complex workflows outside Cin7 (in Excel or separate tools), so the migration is also an opportunity to bring those workflows into the new system for the first time.

Practical questions before you decide.
Is Cin7 suitable for Singapore manufacturers?+
Cin7 works well for Singapore importers, distributors, and light manufacturers. It does not natively support InvoiceNow (PEPPOL e-invoicing) and has limited capability for job shop manufacturing, subcon tracking, and job-level costing. For these use cases, a custom build or a manufacturing-specific ERP is usually more appropriate.
What is Cin7 pricing in Singapore?+
Cin7 Core (formerly DEAR Inventory) starts at around US$349/month for basic plans. Cin7 Omni (the full platform with EDI and advanced B2B) is priced on request and typically runs US$700–US$2,000+/month for SMB users. Over five years, total platform cost for a mid-tier plan is S$50,000–S$150,000 before any customisation.
Can Cin7 handle manufacturing BOMs?+
Cin7 Core (DEAR) has a production module that supports single-level and some multi-level BOMs, with basic work order management. It does not handle complex routing, machine scheduling, subcon job management, or job-level costing at the depth a contract manufacturer or job shop requires.
We are already using Cin7 — should we switch to a custom ERP?+
Only if Cin7 is not covering your actual workflow and you are compensating with Excel or manual processes. If Cin7 handles your inventory and order management adequately and your manufacturing is light, staying on Cin7 is sensible. If you have a significant portion of your operation outside Cin7 by design, that is the signal a custom build would return more value.
