Pricing & engagement
How much does a custom manufacturing ERP cost in Singapore?
+

Most Start Canyon builds sit in the S$10,000 – S$30,000 band for the first useful MVP shipped in 6 – 12 weeks. Smaller commitments include a 1-day Sprint (S$1,500 – S$2,500), 1-week paid Discovery (S$1,500 – S$3,000), and a 2 – 3 day Architecture Workshop (S$5,000 – S$8,000). Larger scope flows into a phased programme starting at S$40,000.

Pricing & engagement
Is the discovery fee refundable?
+

No. The discovery fee buys a written workflow audit, system architecture, and fixed-scope build quote. Whether or not you build with Start Canyon, you keep the document and can take it to any other developer.

Pricing & engagement
Which engagement should I start with?
+

For most Singapore SMB manufacturers, Discovery is the right first step — it produces a written scope and fixed build quote in one week. Choose Sprint if you have a single specific question. Choose Workshop if you want to see a working prototype before committing. Choose Vendor Selection Support if you are evaluating off-the-shelf ERP products and want a neutral second opinion.

Pricing & engagement
Can I pay in instalments?
+

Discovery is paid up front. Builds are typically 50% at kickoff, 50% on staging deploy. Phased programmes pay per phase. We accept bank transfer, Stripe, and Wise.

Pricing & engagement
Are there ongoing fees after the build?
+

No mandatory ongoing fees. Scope-based extensions (new modules, new portals, new integrations) are priced per scope. Optional light retainer for maintenance is available. Third-party infrastructure costs (hosting, Resend, database) typically run under S$200 per month combined and are paid directly to those vendors.

Pricing & engagement
How is Start Canyon priced compared to SAP B1 or Odoo?
+

SAP B1 implementations in Singapore typically run S$80,000 – S$250,000 and 6 – 18 months. Odoo via local SG partners runs S$25,000 – S$120,000 with significant partner risk. Start Canyon is S$10,000 – S$30,000 for the equivalent operational workflow surfaces, 6 – 12 weeks, with full code ownership.

Process & timeline
How long does a custom ERP build take?
+

A typical Start Canyon build ships to a staging URL by week 6 – 8 and goes live by week 10 – 12. The full sequence is: 1 week paid Discovery, 6 – 8 weeks build, 2 – 4 weeks parallel-run adoption. Total: 9 – 13 weeks from first conversation to live system.

Process & timeline
What does a Start Canyon engagement look like week by week?
+

Week 0: Paid discovery week (workflow mapping, scope document, fixed quote). Weeks 1 – 6: Build with weekly demo calls. Weeks 6 – 8: Staging deploy, user acceptance testing. Weeks 8 – 10: Parallel run with the existing system. Week 10+: Go-live and 30-day hyper-care. Each week has a defined deliverable.

Process & timeline
What is included in a custom build engagement?
+

A fixed-scope MVP shipped to a staging URL by week 6 – 8, weekly demo calls, parallel-run adoption with your master Excel for 2 – 4 weeks, staff training with quick-reference cards, data migration scripts, and full code ownership via a private GitHub repo transferred to your account.

Process & timeline
What happens after go-live?
+

A 30-day hyper-care period with elevated support availability — issue logging, workaround identification, and weekly review. After hyper-care, the system runs independently. Future enhancements are scoped as extensions and priced per scope. Optional light retainer is available for ongoing small tweaks.

Process & timeline
What if my requirements change during the build?
+

Change requests are documented, costed, and decided: include in current build (with adjusted timeline/cost), defer to post-go-live extension, or decline. Weekly demos catch misunderstandings early. The fixed-scope quote includes a normal level of refinement; major scope expansions trigger a scope discussion.

Technical & integration
Do I need to replace my accounting software?
+

Almost never. Most Singapore SMB manufacturers use Xero, MYOB/ABSS, Sage, or QuickBooks for accounting and it works well. The Start Canyon system handles operations (quoting, production, supplier coordination, quality) and integrates with your existing accounting system via API or file export. The "split-stack" model is the most common architecture.

Technical & integration
What technology does Start Canyon use?
+

TypeScript, React, TanStack Start, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, and Vercel for hosting. All systems are deployed to cloud infrastructure with a private GitHub repo transferred to the client. Any senior TanStack / React developer in Singapore can extend the system after handover.

Technical & integration
Does the system work on mobile?
+

Yes. Every Start Canyon system is mobile-responsive by default. Shopfloor users access the system via tablet or phone (typically a fanless industrial tablet at workstations). Field staff and customers access via mobile browser. No native app required for 90% of use cases.

Technical & integration
Can the system integrate with my existing tools?
+

Yes. Integration patterns include: API-based (Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage X3), file-based (MYOB/ABSS, Million, older Sage versions), email (Resend for outbound), and WhatsApp (click-to-chat with prefilled messages). The integration specification is part of the Discovery output.

Technical & integration
What happens to my data if I leave?
+

You own the code and the database. The GitHub repository is transferred to your account at the start of the build. The database runs on infrastructure you control (or that we host on your behalf). Data export is a database dump — no vendor-mediated export process. There is no lock-in.

Singapore compliance
Does the system support InvoiceNow and PEPPOL?
+

Yes. PEPPOL BIS Billing 3.0 e-invoicing is built in for InvoiceNow compliance. The system generates compliant XML invoices and exchanges them through certified Access Points. We also publish a free standalone PEPPOL invoice generator at /tools/peppol-invoice.

Singapore compliance
Does the system handle Singapore GST?
+

GST treatment (standard-rated 9%, zero-rated, exempt, out-of-scope) is applied at the transaction level. The system sends GST-coded transactions to your accounting system (Xero, MYOB, etc.) which compiles the GST F5 return. The ERP does not replace the accounting system's GST function.

Singapore compliance
What Singapore regulatory requirements can the system support?
+

Industry-specific requirements: SFA (food), HSA (medical devices, pharma, cosmetics), CAAS (aerospace MRO), IATF 16949 (automotive), ISO 13485 (medical devices), GMP (pharma, food). The Discovery phase identifies your specific regulatory requirements and scopes the system to support them.

Singapore compliance
Does the system support multi-currency for SG + JB / Batam operations?
+

Yes. Multi-currency handling (SGD, MYR, IDR, USD) with cross-border transfer documentation, GST treatment for exports/imports, and consolidated reporting in a base currency. Specifically designed for the common SG + Johor Bahru or SG + Batam manufacturing pattern.

Grants & funding
Can I use PSG grant for a Start Canyon build?
+

PSG covers a specific list of pre-approved ERP solutions. Custom-built systems are not on the pre-approved list. For custom builds, EDG (Enterprise Development Grant) is the alternative — up to 50% subsidy on qualifying costs.

Grants & funding
How does EDG grant work for a custom ERP?
+

EDG can cover up to 50% of qualifying custom ERP costs. The critical rule: you must apply and receive approval before work begins. The application involves an Approved Management Consultant (AMC) and typically takes 4 – 8 weeks. Discovery is the right time to start the EDG application.

Grants & funding
What is the net cost after EDG grant?
+

For a Standard band build at S$15,000 gross, EDG at 50% makes the net cost S$7,500. For an Expanded band build at S$25,000 gross, EDG at 50% makes the net cost S$12,500. EDG covers qualifying costs only — Discovery fee and ongoing infrastructure are typically not covered.

Grants & funding
Can Start Canyon help with the EDG application?
+

Yes. The Discovery output includes scope documentation suitable for the EDG application. We work alongside the client's chosen AMC to provide the technical scope. We do not act as the AMC ourselves — that requires Enterprise Singapore certification.

Vendor & ownership
Do I own the code Start Canyon builds?
+

Yes. Every Start Canyon build ships to a private GitHub repository owned by the client. The repository is transferred to your account at the start of the build. You have full ownership: read, modify, host, or hand off to another developer at any time.

Vendor & ownership
What if Start Canyon stops operating?
+

You own the code. The system runs on cloud infrastructure (Vercel, AWS, Railway) under your account. Any senior TanStack / React developer in Singapore can extend or maintain it. There is no vendor lock-in by design — this is the primary reason most SG manufacturers choose custom over Odoo or SAP B1.

Vendor & ownership
How does Start Canyon compare to working with an Odoo partner?
+

Odoo partners customise an off-the-shelf product. The customisations are tied to that partner — if the partner exits the market, your customisations are at risk. Start Canyon builds custom systems with full code ownership. The relationship is a service relationship, not a lock-in relationship.

Vendor & ownership
Is Start Canyon Singapore-based?
+

Yes. Start Canyon is operated by a small Singapore team. Most prospects interact with one operator throughout discovery, build, and adoption. Support is SGT hours. We do not outsource the work.

Vendor & ownership
Does Start Canyon resell SAP, Odoo, or NetSuite?
+

No. We have no vendor affiliations and no referral fees from off-the-shelf ERP vendors. If your workflow fits an off-the-shelf product, we will tell you — that is part of the Vendor Selection Support engagement (S$3,000 – S$8,000).
